Mongoose Challenge
Mongoose Widget Builder
Badge: 135 · Duration: ~30 mins · Level: 1 · Category: 6
Build a Mongoose portal widget using the UserNames IDO and deploy it to a custom workspace in Infor OS.
Challenge Overview
This challenge tests your ability to design and deploy a portal widget using an Infor Mongoose form. As an IT Admin, you will set up access, create a form using the Runtime Builder, integrate it into a portal workspace, and verify that live data is displayed correctly.
Business Scenario
SitePulse Operations needs to improve how team members access user profile information in the corporate portal. Currently, admins must navigate through multiple menus to look up usernames and descriptions — a slow, manual process that creates bottlenecks during onboarding and access reviews.
As the IT Admin, your task is to build a lightweight, reusable Mongoose widget that surfaces user data directly on the portal home page. This eliminates the need for manual lookups and gives business users instant, self-service access to the user information they need most. A well-configured widget reduces administrative overhead and enables faster operational decision-making.

Sub-Task: Register Widget in the Widget Form Runner
Complete these steps only if your widget does not appear in the Forms dropdown:
- On the Mongoose runtime screen, open the Widget Form form.
- Click the New icon.
- In the Form Name field, search for and enter your widget name
UserNameDescWidget_INITIALS. - In the Description field, enter User Name and Description Widget.
- Ensure that the Use as Widget check box is selected.
- Click Save.
Then:
- Return to the Workspace Widget configuration. Your form should now appear in the Forms dropdown.
- Once the form is selected in the Forms dropdown, click Save.
Step 6: Test the Widget
- Switch the workspace to Run Mode.
- Verify that the User Name and Description widget displays data.
- Confirm the widget correctly shows both the UserName and UserDesc fields with live data.
Challenge
Now it's your turn. Create a second Mongoose form that displays different fields from the same IDO, then configure and deploy it in your existing workspace.
- Create a new Mongoose form with the name of
UserNameUserIDWidget_INITIALS - Use the Runtime Builder with the UserNames IDO.
- Select the UserName and Userid fields (not UserDesc this time).
- Publish the form to the catalog.
- In your existing Mongoose Widget workspace, configure the Infor Mongoose widget to point to the new form.
- Update the widget title to:
User Name and Userid - Ensure the Widget Form Runner is updated if needed (same process as the walkthrough sub-task).
- Switch to Run Mode and confirm data is displayed correctly.
[!TIP]
Use the same Runtime Builder workflow — the only difference is which fields you select. Make sure the Widget Form Runner form is updated with the new form name before trying to select it in the widget configuration. Carefully rename the widget title — it must say "User Name and Userid" exactly. Double-check your field selection: Userid, not UserDesc. If the workspace shows no data, verify that the correct form is selected in the widget's Forms dropdown.
